I am David the founder here at The Golf Geek UK, Welcome! I have had a love for golf for almost 20 years and have learned a great deal about the game over the past 2 decades. The game has changed drastically in that time and I hope to be able to use my experience to help you on your journey, I hope you find the content interesting and informative.
Let me tell you a bit about me and my background.
My Love Of Golf
I started playing golf at a young age, I cannot remember exactly but I do remember borrowing my Granddads clubs without his permission at the age of 8 to play up the local field, when I say play I really mean chopping at the ball for hours until Granddad realised and the clubs were swiftly returned to him! From then, I had a keen interest in the game, I did not have much to start off with all my clubs were hand-me-downs or from the second hand shop, however, this did not stop me from chopping up that field as much as I could.
I started to develop a love for the game, where it became a bit of an obsession, out with the hours of school I would almost certainly have a golf club in my hand. Whether that was in the garden with my make shift flag sticks for target practice or a putter in my room to practice my putting stroke. I even lost a girlfriend over golf as she thought I spent too much time playing the game lol.
As I got older the passion never left, I always had the dream of playing golf as a professional and making a living from the game that I loved, although as with most thing’s life tends to get in the way. I still hold on to that dream in the back of my mind that it is never too late to make it! However, it seems as though playing at my level and blogging about the game will need to be where I settle for now.
Breaking down barriers
I feel that the game of golf can feel a little inaccessible to some people especially when just starting out and I would love this blog to help break down any barriers that people may face in the game of golf.
I want to help people with my blog to inform them as much as possible, when I was starting out I never had any resources at all and had to find thing’s out for myself the hard way, through trial and error and wish I had somewhere like this blog to consult whenever I had questions.
I would like to be able to help players of all abilities whether you are just starting out and want to know what is the best club to use is or if you are a more seasoned player and would like to read reviews on new clubs, get more information on rule changes or just keep up to date with the latest news.
Overall Goal
The purpose of this site is to educate and inform on all matters surrounding the game that we all love. I hope to be able to have everyone that visits the site to have left a little more informed than they did when they arrived.
